Richard had to give three months notice before quitting his job. This sounds insane to me but apparently in France it's standard. Anyway, his three months were just winding down when he found out he had 4 glorious days of vacation left just shimmering away, waiting to be used. We hopped on a last minute flight to our neighboring island, turned off all the electronics, and enveloped ourselves in Mauritius for a few days...

The Official Dream House. |

This guy jumped on me out of nowhere, scurried up my arm, and once we grabbed the camera, he even struck this pose. What a guy! |
In the mornings, we'd go Scuba diving....(Lifetime bests, even!!)
|
Stella Maru, our first wreck dive :)

I'd never seen eels so enormous before!!! |
...and in the afternoons we'd rent a bike, leave the hotel, and go exploring the neighboring towns.
The streets smelled strongly of incense and spices. People smiled at us as we passed by. Chickens were scattered everywhere and there were Hindu temples on every corner. Tiny restaurants and little dives were easy to find...their fresh, hand-made meals were better than anything we would've eaten at the hotel. And for a fraction of the price!

This one was Richard's favorite. He's in this picture, enjoying a beer but he kind of looks like a tree. |

The afternoon catch! |

On a gate: "Warning! Mean Dog!" (We drew you a picture to really get our point across. He's REALLY mean.) |
We took a day trip to Port Louis, the capital...what they call "Little India."

The best dholl puri we have ever eaten!! |

Rich went back for seconds. |
So happy, relaxed, and five pounds heavier, we're back to the grind. And I'm already late for work!! Byeeeee
